I am lucky to be the parent of two amazing up and coming showjumping riders - Sophie Ahmat and Heath Ahmat - brother and sister known as "The A Team". We live in Western Australia, and we have been travelling horses to compete on the east coast ever since the very first Interschool Nationals held in Toowoomba in 2008, when Sophie was 11 and Heath was 9. Ever since then, both Sophie and Heath have consistently been in the placings every single year they have participated in both Interschool State Championship Primary School showjumping and Secondary School showjumping and have consequently represented WA on the WA State team at Interschool National Championships for more than 5 years. Attending Interschool Nationals over east has then created the opportunity to participate in other eastern states showjumping competitions, namely Youth Showjumping Festival in Camden and various other State championships, which has then lead to us coming over to compete at the Australian Showjumping Championships in Dubbo in 2011 and in Werribee in 2013 and at Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2013 and 2014. We have therefore now travelled countless miles all over Australia in our little old "Asylum Seeker" truck with no living for humans but comfort for horses, which has been nothing short of character building and a very honest family effort. Sophie and Heath have consistently finished in the top 10 in numerous eastern states competitions in recent years against all the other young guns over east, so they have really made their mark over there too successfully jumping Juniors and Young Riders. Our kids continue to demonstrate that they are two seriously talented up and coming riders that are truly worthy of the considerable ongoing parental support that is required to continue up the heights in showjumping. There would possibly not be another showjumping family in Australia that has done so many epic Australian crossings in pursuit of this sport. From these experiences, we have developed a wonderful stress travel tonic called Anitone, which we give our horses on every journey so they get off the truck after traveling 4,500 kms and compete the very next day. We believe that one day Australia will export showjumping horses to the world, and our dream is to contribute our knowledge and be part of that future.
