Dear Exhibitor
As entries open for 2017 Masterton Agricultural and Pastoral Show, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to our 130th Show. There is a real buzz in the air as the Showgrounds are being prepared I am proud to take over as President this year to bring you an exciting and fun filled Show day.
We have been working closely with Wings over Wairarapa on promotion and logistics, buses will be running between the railway station, air show, town and Showgrounds. If you are travelling from the south or east of Masterton with livestock for the Show please allow extra time negotiate your route through the extra traffic, Manaia Road will probably be closed from the east for the air show
This year we are building on our traditional strengths while reinventing the Show for the future. In addition to our usual livestock, equestrian and home industry competitions, we are bringing back the notion of the Show as a family picnic day. There will be traditional entertainments like a tug o’war competition, sack races and the like with the addition of a variety of live music, wine and food to meet more modern tastes. We think we can both honour our past and our traditions while creating something contemporary and exciting.
We also hope you will bring your Show to the attention of your family and friends and encourage them to make history and be part of the action.
I would like to thank committee members and volunteers who have been working hard behind the scenes to bring together an exciting event celebrating all the Wairarapa has to offer.
Special thanks to Grant Poulton our new Secretary and Manager, a man of great vision who has put an extraordinary amount of time and effort into the preparation and management of the event and also Brian Tatton our tireless groundsman who has the historic Solway Showgrounds looking as pristine as ever.
Good luck with your exhibits and please leave home early and allow extra time for air show traffic.
Yours Sincerely
Peter McWilliam
President
