Kiwi showjumpers just miss out on qualifying

<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm" class="western"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; "><strong>New Zealand's World Equestrian Games are over after top hope Katie McVean just missed out on making the top 30 for Friday's semi-final.</strong></span></p><br> <p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm" class="western"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">The top riders jumped off in Kentucky this evening, with Rodrigo Pessoa (Brazil) on HH Rebozo taking the honours for the individual event and Germany the teams on 17.7. The medals for the individual are to be decided on Saturday night.</font></p><br> <p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm" class="western"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">McVean aboard Dunstan Delphi was the best for the Kiwis after finishing 38<sup>th</sup> on 17.25 out of the 121 who started in the showjumping three days ago, with Samantha McIntosh on Loxley 38 in 59<sup>th</sup> position on 22.42.</font> </p><br> <p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm" class="western"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">The two Kiwis jumped this afternoon. The top 10 teams and 15 individuals will be competing before 20,000-plus in the main arena this evening.</font> </p><br> <p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm" class="western"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">The New Zealand results mean they have not qualified either an individual or a team for the showjumping at the 2012 London Olympics, but will have a chance to do so next year.<br><br><em>- Diana Dobson, Media Liaison NZ</em></font></p>
